- Accessory or Program
- For maximum convenience, STalker can be run as either a desk accessory or as a stand alone GEM program.
- Drop-down Menus
- When run as a desk accessory, STalker places its drop-down menus inside its own window. This allows full access to its menus from inside any GEM program.
- Terminal Emulation
- STalker can emulate several different terminals: Atari VT-52, Digital VT-100, and IBM PC-ANSI.
- File Transfer Protocols
- STalker also supports the most common file transfer protocols:
- ASCII
- XModem-CRC
- XModem 1K
- YModem
| - YModem Batch
- YModem-G
- CompuServe B-Plus
- and the very powerful ZModem.

STalker even supports the new serial ports on the Mega STE, TT, and Falcon machines. - Powerful Autodialer
- STalker's powerful autodialer can keep track of up to 30 phone numbers at a time, though you can easily load and save more. It lets you assign each service a phone number and its own unique set of parameters, file transfer settings, screen fonts, and terminal emulations.
You can also assign each service a unique "auto login" sequence, which will automate the steps required to connect to that system.
- Background Operation
- STalker has been specially designed so that all features, including file transfers, autodialing, script execution, and capture mode continue to work smoothly in the background when run as a desk accessory or when used with Multitasking systems such as Geneva or MultiTOS.
This lets you download a file while writing a letter in your favourite GEM word processor, all at the same time! This feature is so powerful and addictive, one is left wondering how one ever got along without it.
- BackTALK Scripting Language
- STalker includes, free of charge, the powerful BackTALK scripting language which has over 130 separate functions, and lets you take complete control of the STalker 3 terminal. With it you can automate any on-line session and create customised applications.
There's even a Remote (miniBBS) mode in STalker which is based on this scripting language (the included source lets you modify and expand upon it). Of course, this powerful scripting language is completely documented in the illustrated STalker manual.
- STeno Support
- If you own the STeno text editor, STalker will fully interface with it, giving you a seamless bridge between the two programs. This also lets you use STeno as a complete editable terminal buffer, a type-ahead buffer (ideal for on-line conferences), and as an integrated editor.
- NeoDesk Support
- STalker can be used as a NeoDesk Accessory, allowing you to access it directly from the NeoDesk desktop, drag and drop script files on it, and much more.
- Additional Features
- STalker also lets you easily cut and paste any part of the terminal display, which can then be printed, sent to the clipboard, sent to STeno, or saved to disk. It also supports the new serial ports on the Mega STE & TT/030 machines, and third party serial ports.
You can even use GDOS to replace the screen font. We include smaller fonts, stylish fonts, and the complete PC-ANSI character set (useful if you want to view PC-ANSI based character graphics).
